Beckett Genisys 7505 dies after ignition carryover.

Oil burner was running fine until the home owner ran out of oil. It sucked water into the filter and lines and froze. I cleared it replaced the nozzle and up it went! BUT! It cycles thru until ignition carryover then dies and recycles. Prime runs with no problems but a normal heat cycle will not stay lit. A puzzle. Should I replace the Genisys? As soon as the igniter goes off it dies. Can I override the Carry over and leave the igniter on like an old burner? Any thoughts? Thanks Guys!

sounds like your not retaining flame. You can override the ignitor but that's just a bandaid. I'd be cleaning the fuel lines out again, strainer and filter and maybe try another nozzle to make sure it isnt partially blocked. Did you do a smoke/co2 test?

What ohms are you reading before the ignition and the flame drops off?
What about combustion numbers (if you can get them).
Also, first I would check your cad cell and see what reading you are getting.
I would do all the above as @Ichmb mentioned, then I would fire it up. As soon as flame is established, jump out F-F. If the flame drops off, I'd replace. If flame continues, read ohms either off the control, or by clipping onto your two F-F wires.
Keep in mind if the lines froze, you couldve damaged you pump. So if after jumping out F-F, and flame continues, check your pump pressure, cut-off, and vacuum test and do a full combustion test.

IMPORTANT!! Jumping out F-F is only for testing! Under no circumstance should you leave it that way! If you lose flame, your burner will empty your fuel tank into the combustion chamber.

Ohms are a high around 3600. Pump pressure is at specs 150lb.
Boiler goes up to 180F in prime mode, but will not stay light in normal cycle. I'm not retaining flame so I'll clean it again and see.
Any other thoughts- should I replace the Genisys if all else fails.?
How can I override the igniter so it stays on during the call for heat with this controller?

The NX has a window in the "choke disc" (not sure if this term is correct, it's the round piece where the electrodes are clamped). This lets the cad cell "see" the flame better. Make sure this window is clean.

I cleaned the NX window, I just think I have water and ice contaminating the fuel, so the flame is not bright enough to tell the cad cell to keep it lite. Hard to get oil delivered on a holiday weekend!
I've had issued with other NX burners with this 'seeing' problem, I heard Beckett came out with a special cell for this, anyone hear about it?

Beckett has a different diffuser disc they sent out that has a mica "window" in it that lets in more light. I have found that I still can't get under 2000 ohms most of the time. I had one that no matter what I tried, I could not get it under 2500, and the burner just kept locking out after random days would go by. I talked to tech support and finally came up with a combination of their advice, and mine. I took the cad cell off its bracket and strapped it to the nozzle line just behind the window. I can't remember the reading, but i think it was something like 400 ohms after the mod.
I just have to come up with a better strap setup, as I just used 2 zip ties.
You are getting flame just before it goes out, right? I would also check the cad cell reading, and if it is good, replace the control. But, with the luck I have had with this control, I would definitely look elsewhere first.

    Good point Rick!
I'll have to check out the cad cell alignment, I have a OHM of 3600 to 4000, the NX manual says it will not work past 1600. Cleaning it out at 2AM on a no heat (no oil) call, I might have misaligned it. Will check tonight!

The Genysis needs the contractor tool to change ignition, pre and post purge, etc.
Did you replace the pump strainer? Flush the oil line? Still gotta have water there somewhere.

Did all that. I have the contractors tool, can't shut off the carryover with it. The water is in the oil tank, when the Holiday is over it will be addressed!

Still a problem - water in the oil. I tried "rick in Alaska"s trick of strapping the cad cell to the oil line and moved it closer to the flame. It stayed lit! Ohms read down to 1500 to 2500 which is an improvement-runs now on a call for heat, even with the poor flame from the water.
The mica windows in the NX are dark I can't get them clean so I think replacement will give the cad cell more light, as will water free oil!
    Thanks guys!

Just a follow up. Fuel was cleaned up, the cad cell was returned to the right place and all is running well with the NX. Thanks guys for your 'tricks of the trade' ! Without your advice things could have been REAL COLD!
    Thanks!
