disappearing water

I have a client with a Quietside dual purpose boiler. He loses water pressure at a low rate (a cup a day or so). I tried isolating each manifold and was surprised to find I lost pressure in the main system while the manifolds held. Also pressure held all summer while the system was not in use. The only explanation I can come up with is water leaking through the heat exchanger and out the condensate when the boiler is firing. Has any one else ever heard of this?

It's probably an expansion tank issue. You may not be loosing water but don't have a cushion. Why not disconnect the boiler and pressure test it to be sure?0
