Boiler service problems

My old Trianco boiler was seviced this week and the engineer changed the air flow incorrectly causing bad misfire. Came back to change settings back to what is was previously but still did not solve problem. Then third visit by a supposedly more experience engineer. Seemed to be running weel when he was here. Following day boiler did not fire up on start (reset light on). On nexr start up attemp there was a big blowback blowing the flue off the the top of the boiler and the top off the chimney! Obviously not happy at all but where do I go now? This is obviously going to cost me big to repair the chimney and flue even if the boiler is still alive! Any suggestions as i'm sure I want these guys any where near my place after this!

    The Trianco usually came packaged with a Beckett AF, but I have seen them with a Wayne HS Blue Angel. Yuck.
    Either way, it's not rocket science. It was working fine (I assume) before service, so IMO, the company is responsible to make it right, at absolutely no cost to you.

    At any time, was a combustion analysis done? Smoke test? If no, I would ask "Why not?".

    I'm in south Northants.
    They did a smoke test and a print out was left tacked to the case. It ran ok when he was here with it all stripped back for about 30 mins. Total mess now though so no idea what happened!

    We have a couple Blue Angels in our customer base. They run fine when set up properly. Trouble is, some techs think they can set them up like Becketts, which doesn't work. Same with the older Sunray Golden Cup burners.

    Were not going to be able to help you much. You need a new oil service contractor. One that will dig in , find the problem and set the burner up properly with combustion test equipment.

    Could be any number of problems:

    Bad ignition transformer
    improper electrode settings
    plugged or partially plugged nozzle
    wrong air adjustment
    dirty or plugged oil filter or strainer
    problem with the fuel delivery

    Ahh- the site's Find a Contractor page doesn't extend that far. Wonder what burner was used on UK Triancos?

    Yeah, they're out there. So maybe it's not so much the burner, but the guy who was there before.
    I've got T gauges for both. The Sunray is for the FC-134 model, and an old yellow manual.

    i believe they use riello over there, could be wrong nozzle, too much air, bad electrode gap

    The burner on mine is a whirlette and is a big red casting. Latest idea is that the electric controller failed which should have stopped the ignition cycle.
    Didn't realise there was no cover on this site in UK

    Googled Whirlette oil burner , not much came up but Whirlette waste oil parts ..
    I have enough experience to know , that I dont know it all

    Me too. I found Whirlette with a Trianco burner spec sheet, but it only shows electrode settings.
    Looks like a downfire burner.
