Time for a Boiler

My existing Boiler is a 35 year old Weil McLain with an output of 340 sq. ft. steam. The EDR of my radiators on this one pipe system is 235.So I need a small boiler. My oil delivery company has quoted a Peerless EC/ECT-03 @ 283 sq. ft steam or a Weil McLain SGO-3 @ 354 sq.ft. steam. One heck of a difference! So my question is what other manufacturer has a steam boiler close to my 235 EDR - and I definately need a recommendation on a reliable, knowledgeable installer in my area of Essex County, New Jersey

thanks,
cd mulford

If you're staying with oil, I'd use a Burnham MegaSteam 289, at 289 square feet.

Do you have natural gas available?

For Joisey Steam Guys, try @dave0176 or @EzzyT . Can't go wrong either way.

Why are you replacing boiler? The size is somewhat over, but if it's working well don't fix it> If it's old and troublesome then by all means replace.

Thanks to you all for your inputs - I ended-up having a Peerless ETC-3 installed in mid September. Looks good and works as expected.

Thank You all for all your inputs. I went with the Peerless ET-3 am am very satisified with the performance. As I have not yet installed a low pressure gauge, the 0-30 psi gauge does not move under the normal heating cycle. I do see movement when returning from the set back cycle (65) to (70) so I will install a 0-3 psi gauge. Installation was done by Gateway Plumbing and Heating thru J.W. Pierson my oil delivery supplier.

    thanks again -cdm-
