is an oil fired furnace in a residence legal in suffolk county NY.

hello
I've seen above head oil furnaces in commercial buildings. do the codes allow that in a residential dwelling?

    What's 'above head' mean? Hanging. Sure, but isn't it going to be way over sized?
    You also have to meet the requirements for clearances to combustible surfaces as well as consider the lift from the tank to the fuel pump.
    Any horizontal furnace could meet the same requirements.

    sounds like he means a horizontal oil fired furnace. They are usually made at 80,000btu output and above
