Smell from Buderus Exhaust

I notice that the vapor exhaust from my Buderus GB142 boiler smells like gas. Is this normal?

hard saying really... one person smells one thing... someone else nothing. The only way to really know what is going on is to do a combustion test w/ a analyzer. How old is the install?

The smell of unburned gas, natural or LP, from the exhaust is not normal. As @kcopp said, a combustion analysis and complete check out should be done.

If the boiler isn't burning correctly it will eventually stop working, guaranteed. If you're really lucky it will plug up and you'll get to buy a new boiler. It's best to get a heating guy to service it, one familiar with the GB142

The boiler was installed 18 months ago. I kind of figured that it was unburnt gas. I'll look for a heating expert in my area.
  • Ask them directly if they have a combustion tester, as many HVAC companies do not.--NBC
