Triangle Tube CO Safety Initiative

Triangle Tube started a carbon monoxide safety awareness initiative for homeowners, I think we need more of this.

Absolutely. The ignorance of the issue, even among the average plumbing/heating workers is stunning. Great post. Thanks Mad Dog

Hey Mad Dog. NFPA has reported over 80,000 people taken to the hospital for CO Poisoning recently. They don't count anyone treated on site. Also most cities do not require CO Alarms in commercial buildings. The biggest exemption is schools. Ignorance continues. I guess bad information is better than no information??

Alarms should be mounted near the bedroom if you only have one not in the mechanical room, or you won't hear it at night when sleeping. The fact that they allow 69ppm of CO in your building indefinitely means they just might save your life but not your health. 99% of all CO deaths either go unlisted or undiscovered therefore the actual death toll from CO and CO related injuries is in the tens of thousands if not more. Often CO might be listed in the fine print as contributor to the heart attack but doesn't get the credit. It is usually an insurance company recommendation or requirement not to list it.
