tip of the pilot

Hi there, we have a williams gas wall heater that we've been using for a few years. I've just notice that the tip of the pilot is "burned". I was wondering if this is normal. Thanks in advance!

    I think what you are referring to is the pilot flame sense rod. Looks ok to me in the picture.

    Thank you so much for the reply. I have never noticed it so I got worried that the rod is constantly "in" the flame.
