How to Remove a Section of Baseray Baseboard

Hi Everyone - so we are installing sliding glass doors which requires a 4 foot section of our Baseray radiator to be removed. We contacted our usual plumbing and heating guy who told my husband he would be able to do it himself by watching some You Tube videos (which I haven't been able to find one that does exactly what we are trying to do). Tips, suggestions and warnings welcome. THANKS!

    are you removing a whole radiator, or just part of one?

    Look closely at the baseboard notice that the left and right ends are different(they have a leg on them) all the sections between the left and right ends don't have legs. Also notice the vertical seams every so often,the only place you can take it apart is at one of those seams. Next drain the system and remove the baseboard, lay it flat on it's face on the floor. Notice there is a nut and bolt on the back at each joint. Remove the bolt at the seams where you want to take it apart. Put a 3/4"x6" nipple on the floor under the base board, step on it and it will come apart. You will need a new left and right end section with the leg also some new push nipples. You can usually borrow or rent the press tool from your supplier to press the sections together. You will have to redo the piping through and under the floor to match the new location.
