CH inlet filter

What is causing my inlet filter to blow out the bottom of my wall mount combi boiler? I ran the system for five days then it blew out. Am I running the pump speed too fast? Should I look at check valves/ remove? Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Are you talking about the wye strainer?....do u have pics of the actual near boiler piping ?

It's number 53 on the parts list and the green thing above (E) in the bottom view picture.

Please post a picture of the ACTUAL INSTALLATION . Include the Westinghouse unit . We need to see what you or your installer did , not what it is supposed to look like in the manuals or on the internet .

Have you called Tech support ? They probably would have a quick answer for you .

In what way are you using this unit ? Are you by chance using it for space heating only without the DHW being hooked up ? Where did you purchase this unit and the separate module that it is attached to ?

I'm using it for domestic and floor heating. The tech support it has to do with a check valve in a pump but no concrete answer as how to fix it.

Yes, it broke the filter and I had to get a new one.

I cannot see a pressure reducing valve / backflow prevention device in any of these pictures . Do you have one installed ?

What is the system pressure and how did you purge this arrangement ?

Where do the tees on the system supply and return go to ? Could you take another couple pictures from straight in front of the unit showing everything from the floor to the ceiling without any ladders , buckets or the like blocking anything from view ?

The tee goes to another manifold with 4 loops and the other tee is the return from that manifold. I have 8 loops total. Pressure for the floor heat was set to 18lbs and the boiler pressure ran about 12. I purged each loop separately until all air was out of that loop. I have a fill and exit point on my panel. That is what I hooked up to to fill and purge. I do not to my knowledge have any back flow prevention device unless that is what the check valves in the pumps do. I have three pressure relief valves, one on the panel, one on the CH supply and one on the DHW supply.

It is hard to get a full picture because my mechanical room is only 4, wide and I still have my old water heater in it.

QA pressure relief valve is not a pressure reducing valve . REQUIRED .

Just look at the illustrations in the document I attached . It is published by the manufacturer of your unit .

In the future when you build and install an IED it may be wise to pay attention to the explosive manufacturers requirements and worry less about the fuse .
