Provide " FULL OUTDOOR RESET " to a system with a 80% cast iron atmospheric boiler....with the tekmar 256 ( customer purchased control and asking me to install ) by eliminating the boiler minimum temp option. ...I know the ci boiler cannot see less than 140f because of flue gas condensation. ...can I use p/s piping with A boiler protection valve?....this system has a indirect water heater. ...when the heater calls I would be using relays to take the reset control offline to have boiler fire up to 180f....or should I tell customer to scrap the 256 and I purchase the 356 and use injection pumping. ...with the 356 I know I can achieve this without the boiler protection valve...since the 356 has boiler protection option.....thanks in advance Paul S

Yeah just put on a mixing valve to protect the boiler, or an aqua smart...:)
The boiler protection option algorithm (in my opinion) is wrong for this application and creates short cycling.
Another option is same as above with a buffer tank. Let the boiler only run to charge the buffer tank (like an indirect).

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I've done it many times. It's far from ideal, but some people want "the most efficient system" they can get, until they see the price. Then you gotta put something together for them. This is one of those things.

It's a shame most don't realize the most efficient system is a well insulated and sealed building eh? :p
