    I have forced hot air which blows tepid at best and boiler slams and bangs. now it really will not come on?

    Is it an oil boiler with a H2O coil in the duct work, or a straight oil furnace?

    Let us know for sure exactly what appliance you have and what kind of fuel it burns.

    If it is oil, the symptoms you described sound like a leaking fuel line.
