Boiler chamber insulation.

I've got a Crown BD-74 boiler. I know I need a fire door insulator and target wall insulator. Some specs call for an insulating blanket and some day that is required on a BDS unit only. Does anyone know if it's necessary or if it'll hurt the unit if I don't use one?

I'd use the blanket (we call it a "rug"). It will reflect some heat back into the flame, keeping the flame temperature high enough so it's less likely to generate soot. All Steamed Up, Inc.
