How ironic! Job just came up, looking for five used hot water radiators. Nothing ornate, need 2 with 9500 btu output 5 or 6 column, no height restriction (great room), 2 1800 btu, 23" height max 3 or 4 column (bath and closet), and a 8600 btu no height restriction, or 23" max height 4 or 5 column (if I decide to put under window- bedroom). A1, my usual source, has closed. TIA!

    Did you look at craigslist?

It's truly amazing how many of them are on Craigslist in the south jersey philly area. It blows my mind that people pull them out for forced hot air heat.

I contacted Dave Stroman, he's got a lot. Going to check in with Governale or OCS for new tomorrow, see if it's going to bust the budget or not..

    Good idea re craigslist!

Yes I see, but Fran's number disconnected, property took by eminent domain. That's a lot of stuff to move! Reached out to Rich Trethaway, maybe he has a contact #.

I've been looking for a few oddball size rads and while craigslist seems good for common sizes, I'm getting a little discouraged on looking for the unusual ones. The last time I tried to get in touch with A1, I was unsuccessful, so I look forward to hearing if Rich Trethaway knows anything. Anyways, I've found a few other A1-esque places I thought I'd share:

    MD: http://www.vintagehousepart.com/
NJ (not a lot of rads): http://www.recyclingthepast.com/
    ME: http://www.apexradiators.com/

Bob give me a call or send me an e-mail address and I can send pics of the ones I don't need.

Thanks guys..after some more thought, I'm going to go new, OCS, in Brooklyn. I will pick up. Reasons are: expediency, consistency, no prep, controlled shipping cost, assured (hopefully) integrity. And they don't have to be fancy scrolled type...this is a basic job.

The radiant in slab with copper tube on this site sprung a leak (no, really? :)) and wrecked the wide plank flooring. Poor envelope, no amount of tweaking with design can eliminate the need for supplemental heat with QuickTrac. Bummer. So it would have been rads anyway for second stage or supplement. Over pour not happening.

So, the fun begins next week with sawcutting channels to get my home runs in to the rads, back thru a stone foundation, and into a low "basement" adjacent, where the berler is.
