aluminum plates

in Radiant Heating
what is anyones thought on alumimum transfer plates placed in rock mortar? Will the mortar eat at the plates over time? Please let me know any thoughts on this.

    What is the reason for that? Heat transfer plates are designed to be in direct contact with the tubing to allow conduction to take place. This would increase the higher tempurature surface area which is in direct contact with a wood subfloor where conduction can take place to the wood over a greater surface area. I would check with a manufacturer of the plates. There are several quality plates.

    You would be better off having .389 tons of aluminum ground up into 1/16" aggregate and mixing it with the appropriate amount of concrete for a 1000 sq ft x 2" thick pour , install tubing as you would in an embedded pipe application .
    I am only kidding .

    this is for a snowmelt app. customer has a 1 foot over hang and no way to get to attached to it. so we thouth of plates.

    Have you thought about electric for the overhang? If someone can afford snowmelt they can afford a system with two heating mediums.
