mepco vaccume return line condensate pump

hello. I have a model vrd2520c5-208 mepco return tank. It is rusting out the bottom. The other tanks in 4 other boiler rooms don't have any vaccume pumps. what makes this necessary.It is lower than the shipco tank it pumps into in the boiler room.

I would suspect that in the section of the building served by the vacuum pump that they could not get the proper pitch on the piping so they had to use a vacuum pump which pulls a vacuum on the return lines and pulls the condensate back to the vacuum tank. From their it is pumped back to your Shipco tank in the boiler room. Mepco is still in business if you need a new tank.0
