Nice to see a manufacturer involved and not whining about mandated efficiency, good for Xylem for bringing this to our attention.

Kind of off topic here, but we in forceair land have been hurt by the higher efficency mandate standard. We have many of town home with twenty year old 8 to 10 Seer equipment in them in a closet that is bigger enough just to house an airhandler. If you were to compare the sizes of old to new that new mandated ah will not fit.so what happen is the old ah stays in a new outdoor goes in only. Now you are stuck with a unit that has a refrigerant in balance along with decrease capacity n efficency.Personally i think like anything their should be options. If i want to spend my hard earn money on a unit that can run a colder coil n does a much better job with the humidity verse the new with higher coil temps and assumed higher efficency so be it.I just hate how they assume one size fits all.sorry it a thorn in my side everytime i have to find a place out in the yard for a outdoor unit that the size of a shed.

    I felt that pain.

Just because it has a higher SEER rating, and takes up more room in a closet, doesn't mean it will cost you less money to run.

    And THAT is a fact.
