Low gauge install

So I have been working in getting my system to work more efficient with that said, I have skimmed my boiler 2x and I have added a low pressure gauge to see accurately what's the pressure. I have a honeywell presuretrol install as well. My setting are as follows: Main 2psi and Diff 1.5 according to Dans book " Honey we got steam". So I fire up the boiler after installing my low pressure and the needle barely gets to .1 psi is this normal? And I did check the pigtail and is not clogged.

    You are doing it right! You don't really want pressure or want the pressure to be as low as possible. The pressuretrol is really just a high limit switch to keep the boiler from going above a certain pressure. If you never hit that pressure that is actually a good thing. You will get nice run times satisfy the thermostat then the system will shut down for temperature and not pressure. I have a 15 ounce gauge and mine just jiggles a little and doesn't really come off zero.
