Stem pipe insultation

My pipes are insulated with fiberglass, it seems pretty thin, maybe 1/4" and wrapped with nashua foil tape.

From what I'm reading here, this is not enough insulation.  Is it worth ripping off and starting over with thicker, modern fiberglass insulation, or should I just leave alone?

It looks pretty silly, all the foil tape, so I was thinking about doing it for aesthetics either way.

Any advice is appreciated!

    No Brainer:

Its a no brainer. Rip the old stuff and replace it with REAL pipe insulation. As thick as you can afford. Cover the fittings too.

"There's never enough time (or money) to do it right, But always time for someone else to (pay) and do it over.

You're the one. Do it right, now. You won't be sorry.

    Good supplier

I found this supplier to be reasonably priced and ships out same day (my experience). I filled in missing sections on my first order. I just placed a second order for "T" & "L"s and raty old sections.
