little flames and end of tubes when unit is off

I have a natural gas boiler and when the unit is not running there are little yellow flames near the air shutters by the manifold.  I went online to find a picture to know what to call the parts.  Sometimes there will be little blue flames flickering on the burners themselves, again when the unit is not running or calling for heat.  You can blow them out but usually they return after the unit has run then shut off again.  Easy fix?  Dangerous?  Expensive?

    Flames

Incredibly dangerous. Shut the unit off and call a professional. Sounds like a leaking gas valve.

Good idea to turn it off…Couple of questions, was the appliance ever exposed to water, and was tape used at or near the gas valve….J A
