Is there any difference between the gorton #1 and the gorton #D?

i would like to install it on the main (about 15 feet of 2 inch pipe)??

    Nope

    As far as I know a #1 and a #D are identical other than the connection styles.

    Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

    CFM will be differnet

    #1 comes in larger stem sizes of 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" while the D only comes in 1/8" and 1/4" stems. Smaller diameter input means less available output.

    but isn't the

    output the same? thy both vent the same amount of air in the same amount of time.

    Testing

    The D and 1 tested identical according to Balancing steam systems by Gerry Gill and Steve Pajek.



    So this means an 1/8" pipe vents fast enough for a #1.



    Either way a #1 and a #D perform the same.
