superstor problem

Options
Hey,

I was hoping someone can help me out. I have a superstor ultra. I am frequently losing hot water. I replaced the zone valve motor, thinking that was the problem. It worked for a bit and the problem came back

The problems seems to come and go, but last night the water was like warm. The pipes coming in gets hot, but the pipe going up to the house does not. It seems that the heater does not recognize the house is calling for hot water.  I dont know if changing the tank control will help or what it is.

could be many factors.  First thing I would check is the 2 lines on bottom (boiler in/out).  Run the hot water, after a few minutes when tank calls for hot water, the circulator should come on and the boiler in should get very hot quick.  Followed by the boiler out in a few minutes.  (if piped correctly, boiler in is top, boiler out bottom).  If these pipes dont get hot, look into circulator or zone valve problem.  If they both get hot, then water is circulating correctly.  Second what is temp on tank set to?  should be about 120.  I have had some older tank need to be turned up to 130 due to scal on inside of tank and on aquastat well.   Also check what the boiler temperature is set to.  Should be set 20 degrees minimum above the tank temperature.
