Boiler Size

in Strictly Steam
I have a 30wide by 80 deep small apartment building. There are eight small one bedroom apartments. Each apartment has has 3 radiators. 1 big one around 4 feet and 2 small ones at 2 feet tall.



How big do you think my boiler should be. I feel i am burning too much fuel. It can spit out 580,000 btu's using a beckett oil gun. Burn rate 3 gallons per hour.



I will close to 1700 gallons used already this winter.



What do you guys think.

    There is no way to know for sure unless each radiator is measured to find the EDR ratings, but that does sound like an awfully big boiler. I would not be surprised if it was indeed oversized.
