standby heatloss on a ci boiler

in THE MAIN WALL
 is not good. the standby heatloss on an indirect water heater is awsome,in some cases amazing. now why can't i get comparable rates from a conventional boiler? has anyone tried to improve on this downfall?

    Standby

    So long as the boiler is losing the stand off in a conditioned space not worth the hassle. Unconditioned another matter. But then again if it is a big deal get a mod/con, after all CI boilers are sub 90% anyway. I would assume manufactures are directing their efforts to the real,efficiencies. Oh wait mod ones are no more than 90% now.

    but what the hell, conventional boilers should not be warm to the touch!

    the best answer is

    to reduce or eliminate standby time, which will then reduce or eliminate standby losses.



    There are a number of strategies which can reduce standby time.  Eliminating it requires either modulation or significant staging.

    REDUCING

     standby time is making the load load more efficient, right. and if thats right, then the only way i can see if it extending the standby heat loss is if if the boiler was in the conditioned space. is that what your sayin?
