Taco ESP Valve Operation

I am helping a friend get his heating system to operate correctly. His boiler is working perfectly. Some rooms have heat and others do not. I bled them all, restored heat to some rooms, but a few go cold again. He has Taco ESP zone valves. I believe that some of them are failing to open and close as instructed by the thermostat. I want to manually put the valves in the open position.

I'm not sure how to turn the manual valve control so it ends up in the open position.

Can anyone help me out here?

Any help would be appreciated.

    twist of a wheel

on the very top of he power head. Are you sure they aren't opening? Those had bad end switches usually.

    That's the problem

I turned some of them and I could hear the water flow. This one has a weird clicking sound like the gears are still engaged. So it's hard to tell. That's why I want to manually open the valve and leave it open so they can get heat. Is there a way to open the valve if I remove the actuator?

    disconnect the power

Or it will try to reset itself.

    On my way there now.

I'll remove the power and see if it resets.
