Thought this video put a good visual to the basic concept of flame rectification.

    Great physics demo

I was bored to death by physics in high school because the course material was written by people withe ZERO imagination. It's kind of strange because i made my living in engineering and required a pretty good understanding of that subject. I never got to college and had to learn it all by reading and lab work. It took a while but I ended up being well enough versed in the area that I became the resident expert on high voltage supplies which we produced for the military

Now where did I put that 15,000V power supply?

Smith G8-3 with EZ Gas @ 90,000 BTU, Single pipe steam
    Vaporstat with a 12oz cut-out and 4oz cut-in
    3PSI gauge

    Physics

I think there's been a pretty strong science surge lately. And we have a new generation of teachers that DO HAVE an imagination. We're the internet generation, so we get bored very easily, and it's pretty awesome to see a clash of science and art. Plus...anytime you can watch a video with 15,000 volts and fire and still learn something is fine by me.
