Where to put a CO detector?

Hello...
I heard on the radio today that installing a CO detector low... +- 18" off of the floor, is the best location... My thoughts were that CO comes from a heating source, Boiler or Furnace, and because hot air rises then CO detectors should be high...
What is correct?

where do you breathe?
18" off the floor is good if you're a dog. Otherwise, put it where you breathe--typically btw 24-60" off the floor whether standing or sleeping. Should be within ~15LF of each sleeping room.
For maximum protection, throw out the CO detector and get an unlisted CO monitor0
