The best oil courses I know of

are taught by George "Firedragon" Lanthier. He's doing many courses at the Beckett facility at Sturbridge, MA if you can make it that far. Also he does classes in Vermont thru the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association, but the link isn't working. Probably best to contact him directly. Go here:

George teaches gas and other courses too. For gas, I would also strongly recommend Tim McElwain's courses, which he teaches at his Gas Appliance Training Center in Warren, RI (near Providence). Tim doesn't have a site, but you can e-mail him here:

Both George and Tim have been around for decades, and between them you should be well covered. Be sure to tell them I sent you.



If you don't already have a digital combustion analyzer, get one. And don't cheap out, some of the bargain-basement models aren't very good. You NEED an analyzer if you're going to work on combustion equipment, otherwise you are naked in that mechanical room and lawyers just love that. Bacharach, Testo and Wöhler are three good brands. You'll learn to use them in your classes with George and Tim.

Take several classes in a row

and get a motel room for the duration. Worked for me when I went to Tim's training center.
