Old Bryant Boiler Age

Trying to determine the age of an old Bryant gas-fired steam boiler.



Model is 4-244

Series A

Serial #18L32757



We checked with the town and they see no permits for replacement back to the early 70's...so it's possible that it is older than that.



Any help or guidance you could provide would be appreciated.

    Hi -  A reference to a Bryant 244 is listed on page A8 in the following link :

    In the middle of the page it shows a Model 245 with a note "(Model 244 The Same)"



    The link above and reference is from the Beacon Boiler Reference Book 1959 -1972 so that would make it seem that your boiler was pre -1972  which corresponds to the town's (lack of) permit information.

    I don't know what your plans are for this boiler but you might want to seriously consider replacing it as boilers from that time weren't very fuel efficient. (They didn't have to be as heating oil in those days was around $0.15 a gallon!)

    The plan is to replace it, just a question of doing it now or waiting until spring.
