can't read the boiler plate

OK who's got a little trick to share. Went to look at a boiler tonight and I wasn't able to read the specification plate on the boiler. The boiler is a 6 section converted steam to hot water oil fired. The monster has 1-2" supply tapping and  two 1-1/2 return tapping's. The burner is a not a flame retention just a gun type. Can I put something on that plate to bring up the lettering and stamping?

Thanks in advance,  Dennis

    Pencil tracings?

I've taken a clean piece of paper and placed it over the label, then used a pencil, with light pressure and made a tracing of the plate. May take more than 1 try but does show you whatever impressions are on the plate. Will need to be as clean as it can be before you attempt to recover the impressions.

    thanks for the help

Mark, I'll give that a try, thanks

Mr O'Brien..This house just had an extension put off the side and a full dormer on the second floor. I believe the boiler in place was over sized for the original house. I'm in the middle of doing a heat loss for the entire house for the proper size boiler that will be needed. If the boiler in place can handle the load I may suggest to leave it in place for one more season and just pipe in the additional zones. The plate would help in this situation.
