Velocity of steam in large pipes??

I am designing some large steam headers and I am trying to find the critical velocity of steam (where the steam won't take the water with it) for 9", 10" 12" pipes.

I am familier with the chart on page 43 in the Lost Art of Steam Heating.

However, this chart only goes to 4" pipe.

Somehow over the years I got the fps for some of the large sizes.

I know Dan Holohan gave me the velocity in fps for some.

Now I need the fps for even larger sizes and I want to double check the smaller sizes while I am at it.

What I have currently is

5" with 35fps

6" with 38fps

7" with 41fps

8" with 44fps

I now need

9"

10"

11"

12"

It seems like the fps increases 3fps for each pipe size.

Is that right?

Can it be that simple?

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks

Paul

    velocity of steam

i think that when you double the pipe diameter, the velocity is reduced to 25% of the smaller, so you could extrapolate from the smaller pipe tables.--nbc

I looked at the site but did not see any velocity charts

    Velocity

Paul, Google "Velocity of Steam in Pipes" Sarcos international site should be on the top of the page, and also try www.engineeringtoolbox.com They have some formulas as well. Can you use ther formulas on page 46 in TLAOSH? I dont have the book in front of me but would Linhardts Field Guide to Steam Heating have some Velocity Tables in it?
