Indirect Water Heater system problem

Jer
Jer Member Posts: 3
My 10 yr old bock indirect water system started putting out a hot water flow through a pressure relief drain. The "rookie" plumber showed up and tried many different things including a new relief valve, installing a new pressure expansion tank, then announced that we needed a whole new sidekick water tank -big bucks. Is there something that could be wrong besides the tank? Help!!

    Pressure

It is apparently too high - 40. One release valve goes at 35, the other at 70. Jer.

    is the relief valve

on your boiler the one that is popping? If that is the case, and not the 100xl, the coil in the indirect sounds to be bad. If that is the case, it is not repairable, and the tank must be replaced.

    You're right

You are right - they determined that the coil in the water tank had a leak. They have already replaced it. We decided to go with a Lochinvar stainless steel tank. Many hours of plumbing to get it installed, but all seems to work now. I don't even want to see the bill - but hopefully this will be the last time we have to replace the tank! Thanks for your input.
