No heat/hot water this morning

We awoke to a chilly house this morning...

I know our oil is low. For some reason I thought the top of the gauge indicated the oil level, maybe it is the bottom?

There is a green light blinking on the burner box...what does this indicate?

Thanks, Nelson

    Gauges are more like guesses

They say full and close to empty. the other marks are for decoration. Even if there is still an inch or two of oil it does not mean the burner can pull it over to the burner. Sometime there is 2 inches of sludge in the bottom of seemingly new tanks. Time for a delivery.

    Thanks, Charlie

Don't think I'll be able to get any until Monday...

I was thinking of getting 5 gallons of diesel.

What does the blinking light on the burner mean?

Will I need to "prime" the system?

    No Heat/ No Oil:

Like said, it's a "Guess Gauge".

The green flashing light means that it's a R7184 Honeywell control telling you it went out on lock-up/safety.

Put 10 gallons (two 5 gallon cans) of diesel oil and prime it. It's not easy priming with that control because the wire connections are under the control and you need to remove the control. If it was a CCT *02000 series control or a Honeywell R8184 its easy. If it latches up after a few tries, you will have a giant PITA getting it going. It's possible if you know what you are doing but it's long to explain it.

    Resolved!

Found someone to deliver oil today and prime and the boiler is running now.

    Thanks for the replies!

Glad to hear you are up and running

the trouble with running out on Saturday is the extra fee for emergency delivery. There may be a few things you can do to stretch your tanks. What type of controls are you using? Any burner controls for outdoor reset or burner cycle with a post purge maybe?
