I would like to get some opinions on the best way of controling a domestic hot water return pump in an apartment building. Obviously constant circulation is not the right way, I know the Buderus wall hung boilers are preset to run at 3 minutes every hour, I'm not sure if thats enough, the only other way I know is with an aquastat strapped to the pipe, that will run the pump if it goes below 110 - or whatever you set it at.

    Time and Temperature...

    A programmable timer AND the aquastat will set you up.



    Set the timer to run between 5 AM and 10 PM. If during that time, the water comes back adequately hot, then the aquastat shuts it down.



    If it is between 10 PM and 5 Am, then the pump stays off.
