What type of baseboard heater is this?(Pic attached)

Hi,



I don't know much about heating and in my house this morning I found a nice puddle of water underneath my heater in the bedroom. I believe I have a hot water single loop system.  When I took the side cover off the heater I see the elbow pipe that looks like possible a shut-off in it as well as something else that looks like maybe a shut-off on the top. I did some searching on the net and most pictures I find don't have that smaller valve looking thing. Is that normal? Is this a cast iron baseboard? The house was built in the mid 1950's and I believe the baseboard is original.

    Cast Iron?

    Looks like cast iron BB to me from the pic you posted?

    Looks like a cast iron core only run thru a steel jacket. I think American Standard had something like this, but definitely not full cast iron baseboard lookin at that pic

    I think it is steel baseboard. They spot welded the face to a water jacket behind. I do not remember the mfr but I have seen that in the last year on another job.

    It looks exactly the same as Rad#26 in that pic.



    Unfortunately the radiator was all rusted at one end where it was leaking. Beyond repair so I had to remove the unit  and pickup a new baseboard  heater at home depot. The room had 2 heaters and the other one was working fine. Should I just throw it out or is it worth trying to sell?
