handheld CO meter suggestions for homeowner

Homeowner/enthusiast here.  Looking to buy a handheld digital CO meter for personal use.  Had my buddy over with his old Bacharach, and it read 9ppm around the my oil fired boiler.  However, i'm not sure his meter was working correctly.  I'd like to continue to monitor the situation, plus I have a bunch of gas fired appliances (hot water heater, gas fireplace, etc, etc.)

Anyway, i'd like to buy the brand names, Fluke, Bacharach, but I don't want to shell out $500 bucks.  Any references for a GOOD lesser brand for personal use?

and/or I could pick up a brand name from feEbay, but I'd likely have to get it calibrated.  Can someone elaborate on the calibration process and/or the cost of calibration versus the price savings from getting it used.  (i don't that would break the 'dont discuss pricing' rule)

thanks!

As for calibration, there are calibration gases and firms that can do it for you. They have gas with a known quantity of CO, they expose the device to it, and then adjust the readout accordingly. THese personal detectors are not intended to be used to sample and analyze flue gas samples. Only meant to monitor ambient levels.

It's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy.
