Does anyone have a piping manual for the Boiler model Enerjet continues gas steam boiler 262-500btu 214-000 btu

E.T.82. or a similar Enerjet boiler that uses the same pipe configuration.

Thank You

  • Where To Go From Here?

Hi- I looked around the internet to see if I could find a manual for you. From odd bits here and there it would seem that the Enerjet company appears to be no longer in business so finding an installation manual may be pretty hard to do.

I looked at the pictures you posted and it looks like you have some serious problems with your boiler piping configurations. It's fairly obvious that the person that installed your boiler didn't really know what he was doing.

Where do you go from here?  Since summer is coming on you have some time available before the winter comes on again. There are several very good books on steam heating available in the "Shop" at the top of this page. I would get "We Got Steam Heat" and "The Lost Art of Steam Heating". (Read the "WeGot..." first as it is a good introduction to steam heating.)  These books are easy to read, humorous and written so the homeowner new to steam can understand them. After reading them you should have a pretty good idea as to what needs to be done to your boiler. You can then either get someone to fix your system or do it yourself. The big advantage to reading the books is it will give you the knowledge to tell if the person proposing to fix your system is qualified to do so. There are a lot of people in the heating business but very few really understand steam heating. Steam is quite simple but you have to follow certain rules otherwise the system doesn't work properly. The books will tell you all about them and why they need to be followed.

If I were you I would plan a generic piping system that would work with your present boiler but would also be easy to reconfigure for a future replacement boiler. You might want to check the "Find a Professional" section at the top of this page as there are some very good steam pros listed there that could help you.

If you can't find the manual

the next best thing is to just use good basic steam piping practice.

With that size boiler, the header itself should probably be at least 3-inch. If the input goes as high as 500 MBH, as your information implies, it should probably be 4-inch.

The risers from the boiler to the header should be the full size of the outlet tappings, and rise to a height of 24 inches above the top of the sight glass. If there is more than one of these risers, add the extra elbows and make it a "drop header". This configuration is much easier to assemble and takes up expansion better. This is covered in "The Lost Art of Steam Heating".

Here is a pic of a boiler with two 2-1/2" risers to a 3-inch drop header. On this one, a Kriebel system, we routed the steam from the new 3-inch header into the original 5-inch header.  This slowed the steam velocity to about what it was with the original boiler, and the system heats very quickly as a result.

More pictures and request for diagram online

From the top of the boiler blue case measures 17 inches to where the horizontal pie comes out. From the boiler to the top where the header curves is 45 inches. I have all Dans books and I read them thats why I suspected something was wrong here. Does anyone know of a good generic diagram for piping that would match this boiler on line from a  different company. Thank You.

    Is the boiler to big

Boiler model Enerjet continues gas steam boiler 262-500btu 214-000 btu

This boiler is running   a 2 family house and 12 radiators and a hot water closed loop  system in basement.

Is this boiler to big for the house?
