Tankless exchangeer cleaning/maintenance

Just finished a annual cleaning of a Rinnai tankless water heater. Rather uneventful given the good quality of water feeding the unit and the isolation/purge valves.
I have only done three of these cleanings in the past, despite recommendations and reminders to homeowners.
Anyone performing this service? Any ideas that you think make it quicker, simpler or more effective?

Scale removal
is pretty straightforward - if the system has isolation valves. A pump, a bucket, and Sizzle is what I use. Any other products or processes used out there?0 -
Flushing
I have been using white vinegar as recommended in the Rinnai manual."If you don't like change, your going to like irrelevance even less"0
