700 auto air vent

when using 700 auto air vents,does the cap need to be loose to vent air or can air be vented with cap closed?

The older models with the schrader valve , the cap needs to push down on the pin just a little vent out the air .. The schrader valve was a secondary valve ... Seems like they added the schrader as a safety valve ...Cap fully closed , open or missing the vent is closed ....
i cut one apart years ago when this question came up ...
In the newer models the schrader seem to be deleted ...
Second note.... From inside their paper work , you should set the cap just slightly loose . They don't want a rush of air, water and dirt to foul the valve seats ...There was an error rendering this rich post.
