Enough venting?

I have one Gorton #1 at the end of my main for venting. Measuring the 2 inch pipe from the moment the pipe leaves the boiler all the way to the end of main is approximately 60 feet. Do I have enough venting?

If not, would one more Gorton #1 do the trick or add a Gorton #2?

Radiators on the backside of the house, where the boiler is, usually get completely hot while the radiators in the front are about one-third way heated.

Thanks!!

    enough venting?

my method to find the correct number of gorton #2 vents, on a big system, was to keep adding them to my antler, until the noise of the radiator vents could not be heard. all this at 8 OZ. pressure! the air is out at 3 OZ!--nbc

I spoke with the fellow at Gorton...

I believe his name is Ken...his rule of thumb was approx 1 #1 for every 20ft of main pipe.  Sounds like you would need at least 3 #1's, so I would do 2 #2 vents if you have room for them as according to the experts (users here and Dan Holohan) you can't "over-vent" your mains.  Based on Ken's recommendation, I ordered a #2 vent for our home which should arrive today( according to UPS Tracking)!  Would you believe the prior owner of our home had a Hoffman #45 on the MAIN? I have more venting on some of my radiators!

I'll let you know how it goes if you like...I'm thinking my radiators won't sound like a bellows when I have the right venting in place.

    Pin, I'd vent that main

with 2 Gorton #2 vents, especially if it's the only main in the system.
