I was told that because of the way the inner tank hangs it is important to transport it in the vertical position to avoid stress on this connection point.
I would imagine that the worse possible impact would be if it was being carried horizontally and the bottom end was dropped.

Slipped outta my hands!
Hey all:
Dropped a new SMART 50 while moving it into the basement. Loud clang and some dented plastic. I know I'll have to just hook it up and see if it's leaking, but does anyone know if these things are easily damaged? Stainless steel shouldn't be affected that much...?0 -

Just moving it in the basement out of the way of construction.0
