automatic water feeder

Is anyone out there familar with Hydrolevel VXT water feeder. My boiler was not piped correctly and I had a plumber come to check, he gave me estimate to repipe everything according to manufacturer specs. But he also wants to install a Hydrolevel VXT automatic water feeder. He did not check the existing Mc Donnel water feeder when he checked system. I have had the existing for 10 yrs or so when boiler was replaced. I am wondering if I should replace. Does anyone know of this water feeder is it reliable?

    water meter

    it has a integral water meter to see if you are taking on excessive corrosive water.

    hydrolevel water feeder

    Bob,

    thanks for the input, but is it reliable or better than existing mc donnell water feeder i have now. I am not experiencing any problem now.

    like a ford & chevy

    they are comparable. both do the same job well. the hydolevel is improved w/ the additional metering feature. hydolevel is the company that invented the electronic feeder. i might give them the edge.

    water feeder

    like bob said,same thing but a little different.I prefer mcdonnel products.In the commercial boiler field that is all you see.I have had some experience with the other one early on when they first were introduced.

    The links below will take you to the product literature for each feeder. I think I would go for the hydrolevel, not only for it's water meter but also for it's wider range of settings. It has a lower 1 GPM feed rate, I'm thinking that might lessen the chance for overfilling the boiler?

    why gamble

    if the feeder is ten years old it should should be changed also replace the low water cut-off as well. now is an opportune time. the cut-off should be disassembled & probe examined & cleaned annually anyway & has probably never been done. routine maintenence that most neglect. if the cut-off fails , bad things happen !!
