check out lascar. They have a temperature / RH recorder than is about the size of a lipstick tube. You plug it into a usb port to start recording at a certain time and plug it in to download the info.

Onset Computer Hobo and other data loggers. I recently switched or rather added their USB-based loggers versus their serial loggers. I use a lot of their 4-channel external loggers to handle a variety of energy and troubleshooting tasks.

works for us. I like the ones best that can be launched with the push of a button. Some have to be launched from the computer. We keep 6 ready to go that can be launched by pushing the button so whenever they are needed, they are ready.

I use the "usb 502" more then you would need and no bigger then a lipstick case. at $85 worth it.
