Though I am not a plumber, I am very able to do this sort of work. I just don't know how.
How do you re-pack a valve?

Supply Valve leaking in one pipe steam system
I have two radiators with leaking supply valves. They are leaking where the stem meets the valve body. I am unable to shut the supply valve off enough to stop the leaking. I understand that they need to be all the way open or closed.
Can I find detailed instructions for removing and replacing supply valves somewhere? Everyone just says "remove and replace" but it seems like there should be more to it than that.
Thanks, LFW

You should be able
to fix that leak, by either tightening the nut that the stem comes out of (the "packing nut") or installing new packing under the nut. Don't force the nut or you could crack it.
