DDC

Looking for information on DDC systems. I'm trying to learn all I can about it on my own so I'm not totally in the dark when I start my new job. I have a background in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration. Any help as to which direction to go for information would be appreciated.

    Try..

Johnson Controls Metasys website, also MyTraneControls.com...Trane Tracer Summit and J.C. Metasys are the two most widely used systems, as far as I know. You can sign up for online Webinars at MyTraneControls, which are very good, and it is free. Try to get some classes/training from your new employer, or pick the brain of the rep who services your EMS.

I would add that there were more books specific to DDC at one time. You may drop John a line and ask.

Until then, pretty much with DDC, if you can think it you can make it happen. It is all pretty logical. There are binary or digital inputs and outputs (an on-off or a yes-no) and analog inputs (value-based and variable to which the binary/digital I/O's respond. MUCH more to it than that. Mike is steering you well towards those resources and there are others so look around. Many are manufacturer-specific so if you obtain multiple references/resources, compare and seek the common ground/common terms.

    Good Luck!
