Sizing for a circulator pump

How do I know what size of pump I need for a heating loop? I have two different size loops. I've found all kinds of info on head and flow rate for different pumps, but how does that translate in to the linear foot of pipe I can use?

circ sizing

The more pipe and fittings you have the higher the head. You need to calculate the head loss in the loop, figure the GPMs needed and use the pump curve to size the pump.

Download the System Syzer software. It will help you calculate the given head pressures. Size the pump to overcome the highest pressure drop while maintaining the total required flow.

Since I have upgraded....

...to my new laptop (running Vista), the Syzer software does not seem to be compatible anymore?

Does anyone know if a new version that is Vista compatible will be coming out soon?
