Weights on the barametric draft control

Where are you measuring the draft? -.02 should be over fire, not in the breach (smoke pipe).

    Changing the weights

    I am doing the combustion analyzing, and my draft is 0.05 inches. Burnham recommends 0.02 inches. I have the weight adjusted all the way in. I can hold the door open farther to achieve the 0.02, but the weight is too heavy. Can I buy a smaller one or do I have to get out the fishing weights?

    put in a second draft damper to solve your problem.

    as 3lees says, or replace the existing damper with the next larger size. Generally you can use a damper one size larger than the flue pipe diameter.

    That chimney was designed to pull draft thru the coal bed in an old coal boiler. On oil or gas it's way over-designed, so we need more draft-regulation capability.

    Excessive draft will pull the heat right out of the boiler. It could also pull pets and small children to the roof, so keep them away ;-)

    That draft spec over the fire is correct for a V-75. On a Mega-Steam you want a slight positive draft over the fire, and a zero reading at the flue outlet.
