Unusual floor makeup for radiant floor?? Tim

Working on a full remodel, planned on extruded plates under floor. Found that they had skip sheathed on top of joists every 12" or so then put double layer cross ways of t&G subfloor on top of that then 3/8 oak, 1/2+ air space between sheathing and sub floor. I am not sure if plates are going to do any good in this application but on the most part it is the only way I like to do these jobs. If I use clips on under floor and then basically joist bay heating, it will do it but very close. Whats all your opinion on plates and a floor makeup like this. Thanks in advance, Tim

    I assume they are not planning to take up the finish floor?

    Plates will help to some degree (lower subfloor will still be hotter with them than without them) but I wouldn't do this unless I had a lot of "wiggle room" in the numbers for sure.
