I recently installed a honeywell CT8775A digital round thermostat. It is manually programmed.I have a steam heating system. My question is -sometimes when the burner fires up the digital termostat's display shuts off, goes blank. When the burner shuts off-the display on the thermostat comes back on.Is this normal,do I have a problem? This is the second honeywell CT8775A I bought and they both did this.

That is a retail thermostat...
It steals power from the heating transformer to operate. I don't recommend them for steam systems, replace it with a trade model TH5110(non-programmable) or TH4110 (programmable). Both are battery powered, compatible with steam, and this problem will not occur any more. If you choose the programmable, don't set your system back more than 5 degrees.0 -
Bill,
How about the addition of an isolation relay if there is enough VA in the transformer?0
