Taco outdoor reset control

Options
The Taco PC700-2 will modulate the boiler to deliver the water temperature required to satisfy the load, based on outdoor temperature. However, if you have a non-condensing boiler the PID microprocessor has to start the curve from the minimum operating temperature typically set at 140 degrees. You’re saving are greater when using a condensing type boiler. Obviously, anytime you can reduce the water temperature of the boiler, you will save. How much is the variable.

    installing Taco outdoor reset control

I have a pretty new boiler with 6 zones and a Taco 6 zone switching relay control. It looks like I could install a Taco PC700 outdoor reset control which would vary the boiler temp based upon outdoor temp. There are some other options, such as a purge control that pushes all the hot water to the priority zone when the burner shuts down. Are these add on controls cost effective?

    or go with Buderus Logamatic

Since this is a Buderus boiler I could go with a Buderus Logamatic control or a Techmar I guess.

    Taco Reset

I don't install Buderus but I install many of the Taco 700 controls, they are simple to install and there is no wiring exept for the sensors, you are generally going to have a switching relay anyway. I have yet to return to any job I have installed one for a problem. I'm sure the Logamatic is a great control and has a lot of great fuctions, most of the jobs I do would never utilize most of the functionality of that control.
